The merits of Super Resolution have already been covered at length, but for more information on the feature, make sure to see it compared to Topaz Gigapixel AI here and its pure capability here, and how it affects smartphone photos here. The image-enhancer should work identically to the previous ACR-only version. Previously, this option was only available in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR). Super ResolutionĪs has been noted above, Adobe is adding its new Super Resolution feature to Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC. If you’re curious how the M1 version of Lightroom Classic compares to a more high-end Intel MacBook, make sure to check out PetaPixel’s benchmarking of the new software here. The M1-optimized machine was therefore 74 percent faster at this task. The M1-optimized version was able to complete the task in 9.6 seconds, while the Intel machine took 36.4 seconds. The M1-optimized machine was a whopping 78 percent faster at this particular task.įinally, the fourth benchmark asked each machine to increase the resolution of a 12-megapixel image with the newly-added Super Resolution feature. The M1-optimized software was able to complete this task in 14.6 seconds, while the Intel system took one minute and five seconds. The third benchmark asked both systems to synchronize color adjustments across 1000 images. The 11 project-based step-by-step lessons in this book show users the key techniques for working in Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC. That makes the M1 54 percent faster at this task. Digital photographers, amateur or pro, who seek the fastest, easiest, most comprehensive way to learn Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC choose Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC Classroom in a Book from Adobe Press. The M1 version of Lightroom was able to do the task in six minutes and 13 seconds, while the Intel system took 13 minutes and 33 seconds. The second test asked each system to export 1000 RAW photos as JPEGs at 100 percent quality to the local SSD. The M1 version completed the benchmark in 28.9 seconds, while it took the Intel system 52.8 seconds which makes the M1 version 45 percent faster at this task. In the first test, 1,000 12.4-megapixel RAW photos were imported into both systems. We’ve also run our own benchmarks, which you can find here. In our coverage below, we’ve re-calculated the “percent faster” claims so that they are accurate, and we would caution readers to approach any percentages in the original report skeptically (and with a calculator). Several percentages mentioned throughout the rest of the report are also wrong. Thanks for any hint that may point me in a suitable direction.Editor’s Note: The Pfeiffer Report that Adobe commissioned has a lot of great data that compares M1 performance to Intel, however, the percentages included in the table on have been calculated incorrectly. I wonder if someone else experienced similar import issues and if yes, how these were fixed (if they were, that is). Unfortunately I can't be sure with regard to the latter as the 5D IV is now packaged and ready to find a new owner. I can't exactly pinpoint when LrC started to behave this way and it may not only affect my R5 but also my previous 5D IV. Needless to say that this is cumbersome and I do expect LrC to be capable of importing directly from the camera, thethered via USB cable or WiFi or via card reader, which it did nicely until recently. From there, I add them to the LrC catalogue. My current workaround is to use Canon's EOS Utility software to download the files to my SSD, where I store all my work-in-progress files. The German words "Keine Fotos gefunden" translate to "No photos found". The second picture shows the LrC import dialogue. The first picture above shows LrC in Library mode the R5 not mounted although the EOS Utility window on the right to the file locations proves that the camera is actually tethered. When I open the import dialogue in LrC (11.2) with either the R5 connected via USB cable to my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014, running on macOS 11.6.2) or with the SD card inserted in the iMac's built-in SD card reader, LrC does not see any files on the storage cards.
